Virtual Judging

Judging while remote

If your contest (or part) can't meet, we can help you organize virtual judging allowing your judges and participants to still have live interviews.

How it works

You can schedule a time for your judges and students to meet, and our system will make it easy, secure, and safe to connect. You don't have to share zoom links or worry about student going to the wrong meeting. When organizing a virtual contest there are two methodologies to organize your contest.

• Schedule the interviews and share that with students and judges and have the connect at the prescribed time.
  • Not recommend
  • You will spend a ton of time herding cats (judges and students) as some will run late, loose track of time etc..
  • Hard to be flexible, what happens when an interview is missed?

• Set a side a block of time, like you do for an in person event and have the students waiting in their judging booth and have judges
  • No extra work, just let the kids and judges know when to arrive.
  • Just like in person interviews, students wait for judges, when a judge arrives they can begin their session.

Additional Feature Coming Soon Inside of online judging, judges will be able to see if a student is in a meeting, and also see if another judge is already in that meeting.

Students

Students sign in to their account which they created on your website. Once signed in they will see a "Virtual Contest" button in the menu, which they will need to click on. This will take the student to their virtual judging room. Students will see a short list of rules and a button that reads "Enter Judging / Interview Room". When they click this button they will be placed into their virtual judging booth.

Each team can follow the same steps and will be connect to the same meeting.

This works well on most devices.

Judges

In Online Judging when a judge selects an entry to judge assigned or one they found. Judges can simply click a button that reads "Enter Judging / Interview Room". Then they click this button they will be placed into this projects virtual judging booth. If it is a team project the judge may encounter multiple students.

This works best on computers, laptops, or larger tablets where as 1/2 the screen will be the video conference and the other 1/2 will contain the rubric and other materials.
