Registration is the gateway for all users to be able to access content on your zFairs site. Below is some information about this process as well as some tips for troubleshooting if something goes awry.

Configurations

Registration configurations for each user type can be found at
  • Staff -> Fair Setup -> Settings -> User & Registration Type Settings
  • Staff -> Fair Setup -> Schedule -> Registration Date Configurations
  • Staff -> Fair Setup -> Settings -> General -> Show registration on home page
Enabling this will add a login and create account boxes to the event's home page
NOTE: Users registering in this way won't be shown the Pre-Registration page for their user type as we don't know which user they are until later in the process
  • Staff -> Fair Setup -> Settings -> General -> Menu / Navigation Bar -> Hide create account menu from everyone but staff & admins.
Enabling this will remove the Create Account option form the Menu / Navigation bar for all users unless they are a Staff or Admin user

Registering

Once you've configured who can register and what you want to ask each user type, they will all go through a similar flow. On the home page of your event they'll select Create Account or (if enabled) enter their information into the Registration fields on the home page. They'll then be asked to verify their email (if enabled) and from there they can start filling in the information about themselves and answer questions specific to their role in your event.
Towards the end of the process they'll be shown any permissions and waivers that they need to accept and agree to and finally they'll see an Account Created success screen.

People Page

Called My Students for teachers and district coordinators, this page is where you will see all of your users. You have a wide variety of ways you can filter and search for whomever is needed and the icons at the left of each user helps indicate which user role they fill
Note that most icons will be black with some being yellow. The difference between these is that the Yellow icons indicate that this user is currently in the registration process but hasn't fully completed registration yet. Staff and Admin users will be given the opportunity to click continue on the People page and finish that out for them or at least see where they got to in the process.

Troubleshooting

Didn't Get the Verification Email

The shortened version is, if possible, the user should use a different email address
To fully troubleshoot this, if you go to the Staff -> Fair Setup page, in the bottom center box is an option called Test Email. Try sending an email to your judge with that feature. If you then see an error the email either doesn't exist that we can find or the email domain is actively refusing emails from zFairs.
If there are no error shown but the judge still doesn't get the email then the domain that the judge is a part of has a filter somewhere in the chain that is not delivering the email to them. We see this most often with School or Work issued email addresses.
In either of the above cases, No Error but Judge not getting the email or an Error is shown, zFairs won't be able to communicate with that judge. Ideally, they should try a different email address so they will be able to confirm their email address and receive future communications sent via zFairs.
If needed, the judge could reach out to the email admin for the domain they are using and get zFairs emails white listed (see https://wiki.zfairs.com/index.php?title=Network_requirements#Email_Whitelist).
If you aren't concerned about future communications and just need to get this judge in the system, you can, as a Staff or Admin user, go to the people page and locate their Temp User, click continue for their account and push them through the system with the existing email address/information.
